3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 9/18/19

Eloy Jimenez has four home runs in his last eight games, but faces Jake Odorizzi tonight, who has been tough on righties. Should we be avoiding Jimenez on this 10-game slate?

While we have plenty of pieces geared towards guys you should target in your DFS contests, it's also important to narrow down your shortlist of plays and avoid the suboptimal ones who are overpriced and/or in tough spots.

Let's check out three guys to consider fading on tonight's FanDuel main slate.

Gerrit Cole, P, Houston Astros

FanDuel Price: $12,100

In all likelihood going to pitch very well tonight against the Texas Rangers. The righty is a Cy Young Award candidate and has a chance to crack 300 strikeouts for the season in tonight's game. So, why is he an avoid tonight? In yesterday's game, Justin Verlander was pulled after 87 pitches through six scoreless innings, both totals that he tends to exceed.

As the playoffs approach, it seems that the Houston Astros are being cautious with their aces. At $12,100 Cole needs to be able to pitch longer than six innings to be worth the price tag. Avoid him in favor of a dart throw like Dylan Bundy ($7,400)

Max Muncy, 2B, Los Angeles Dodgers

FanDuel Price: $3,200

Max Muncy has turned into one of the Los Angeles Dodgers' most consistent hitters, blasting 30 home runs for a second straight season. While Muncy has roughly even splits, he will be going up against lefty Brendan McKay, who has held opposing lefties to a .218 wOBA and zero home runs. For a player like Muncy, who relies solely on his power to obtain points, Mckay presents a difficult matchup.

Additionally, the Tampa Bay Rays' bullpen is one of the best in the majors, accumulating 6.9 WAR throughout the season.

Eloy Jimenez, OF, Chicago White Sox

FanDuel Price: $3,900

Eloy Jimenez has two factors that make him an avoid tonight. First, his opponent, Jake Odorizzi, has been tough on righties limiting them to a .258 wOBA and only eight home runs in 81.2 innings. Secondly, his price is greatly inflated by his recent performance. Since September. 10th, Jimenez has hit for a .435 AVG and jacked four home runs. While he has been productive this year, these numbers are obviously not a reflection of his true talent.

A.J. Pollock ($3,800) should be able to take advantage of his matchup with Brendan McKay.
